This activity took place on April 26th and it was carried out in the framework of the “open doors” of the Ilmenau University of Technology. Live demonstration on electroencephalography were performed using dry electrode prototypes of the ANDREA project. Differences and advantages of the new electrode system were discussed and compared to conventional wet cap systems. Impacts on current research as well as future fields of application were highlighted in conjunction with other ongoing projects at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BMTI).

The presentations included guided lab tours and live demonstrations for approx. 20 groups of about 10 persons. Furthermore, the ANDREA project was covered as an example research project in two general talks on research and education at the BMTI (approx. 45 min, audience 300 people).

The audience included future students (approx. 50%), current students, parents and employees of the university. To summarize, the feedback on the research and education at the BMTI was very positive. The dry electrode prototypes and the performed live demonstrations provided a realistic impression of EEG and neurosciences in general. Such live demonstrations are only possible using dry electrodes.
